Saturday, April 27th. Raging Bull Harley-Davidson in Durham hosted the Ride for 9/11 ride to benefit the Durham Police and Sheriffs K9 units. This event, sponsored by Chrysti Peek of Keller Williams Reality, was to help raise funds for K9 Buddy Bags (trauma kits). Chrysti partnered with the Never Forget 9-11 foundation for this event. The K9 Buddy Bag has all the equipment necessary to administer first aid and to help restrain and transport a wounded K9 to a medical facility in event of an emergency. The Buddy Bag is made specifically for working police dogs.
The mission of the Never Forget 9-11 Foundation is to keep the memory of the tragedy of September 11, 2001, relevant. They do this by educating future generations on the tragedy of 9/11, and by providing support, equipment and a rewarding experience to those who protect us and our communities.
The Never Forget 9-11 Foundations “Back the K9” campaign focuses on our K9 Heroes. The foundation wants to protect our K9 Heroes who protect & serve our communities. Through fundraising and sponsorships they provide the K9 units with ballistic vests, Buddy Bags and the Hot-N-Pop k9 lifesaving alarm system.
The Bull City H.O.G.’s (Chapter 4040), sponsored by Raging Bull H-D, planned and led the 50 plus mile ride around Falls Lake. At the halfway point, the ride stopped in Bahama for lunch. “We had awesome sponsors” said Chrysti. “Drye’s Gun Shop provided us with space and the lunch was contributed at cost by Fat Sally’s BBQ”. Chrysti picked up the cost of the lunch herself. In all 22 bikes and 25 riders raised enough money to buy 4 Baddy Bags for the Durham Police and Sheriff’s departments K9 units.
