On 17 May 2019 I was invited to attend Paul “Maddaddy” Conway’s 30th Anniversary Party. This was a party to celebrate his 30 years as a Ghost Rider. Now, 30 consecutive years in any organization is quite the accomplishment, but in an MC it’s a lot harder to find.

“Maddaddy”  joined the US Navy in 62’ and was discharged in 65’. Not long after, he joined the US Air Force and ended up in Vietnam. 1967-1968 he was in Country, which meant he went thru the TET offensive. He made a career of the US Air Force retiring in 1983.

In 1988 “Maddaddy”  started prospecting for the Wayne County Ghost Riders at the tender age of 44. Now I believe he was at Wayne County for 10 years or so; served as President and then switched to the Wilson County Chapter.

“Maddaddy” is one of the most well-loved members in the whole Ghost Rider Nation. There are still active members with some more time under their belts, but you will be hard pressed to find anyone who gets more respect. I, personally, have known “Maddaddy” for 3 years now. He and I hit it off from the start, because we had a lot in common; him being a proud Vietnam Veteran and myself being a Marine. So, it didn’t take long for him and me to become friends.

The party was a real blast, it was by invitation only. Maddaddy bought all the adult beverages and also the food. On top of that, he was playing the tunes. If you have ever attended a party where Maddaddy was playing DJ, you heard a real eclectic mix of music. Ya just never knew what you were going to get.

Well, my brother, I hope I did you justice for your 30thAnniversary Party. I know that I speak for a lot of bros, that just want you to know how much you mean to this Nation. When I say ML&R, it’s from the heart, brother. I hope you have as much fun in the next 30 as you have had in your first30.
