The morning of April 20 started a little cloudy and cool, but bikers rolled in for the start of the 1stAnnual Hearts and Hope Poker Run hosted by the Rolling Saints RC, from Granite Falls, NC. The ride was held in memory of Greyson Ray Chamberlain.
The poker run went great. Even with rain, we ended up with 131 riders and others who stopped by to donate. I don’t remember who won the best and worst hands, but thank you for donating back to Hearts and Hope. We gave out around 80 door prizes ranging from gift cards to a guitar and lessons and a muzzle loader rifle.
The Rolling Saints RC was introduced to Hearts and Hope by a member of our club after he contacted them to help two of our members who had just had a baby with heart problems. Richie and Sandra are original club members who had a very tough year with the birth and loss of baby Greyson.
They helped them out with some very great donations and support. So as a club we wanted to get to know more about them and got together. We knew we wanted to be able to help Hearts and Hope because everything they do is just fantastic. The Rolling Saints RC has decided to make Hearts and Hope our charity of choice for an annual poker run. We want to thank members Ricky and Jennifer Riley for getting us together with Hearts and Hope and for all the hard work they personally put in to get this poker run together.
The Rolling Saints RC also presented the Chamberlain family with 20% of the proceeds from the poker run. They didn’t know we were going to do that when we called them to the stage for the presentation to Hearts and Hope. Thanks to everyone who helped and attended the ride, The Rolling Saints were able to present Hearts and Hope with $3,452.
“There just don’t seem to be enough words to express our immense gratitude to the Rolling Saints for this right here,” stated Hearts and Hope. “Such compassion, generosity and so much love despite the cold and rainy day. So grateful and beyond blessed by the time and energy that went into this event. You guys are amazing. Can’t wait until next year.”
